SHELLYCOAT's new album!
„The Darkness Shines So Bright“ is Shellycoat's fourth album, so they are one of the longest-running bands in our local neighborhood. And once again they are further exploring sounds beyond the boundaries of their punk rock roots: The fastest song in the band's history pushes the skate-punk pedal to the metal, then there's pop choruses mixed with morbid indie songs and spherical sounds... and wait, does that one song seriously feature a 50-member gospel choir?
Yes, and well, why not? Shellycoat recorded the 10 songs entirely on their own - although it was certainly no disadvantage that, at the time of the recordings, guitarist Markus was working in one of Hamburg's most renowned music studios. So the band had possibilities at their hands that in the past have helped much more prominent artists to shape their sound. The result is a 10-song roller coaster ride from quiet to loud, from in-your-face to indie disco, held together by singer Karen's complex - and often multi-layered - vocals. A band that is read as “punk” will certainly be asked “is this still punk?!”, but the absolute ignorance of the musicians towards these expectations – that's also kind of punk, right?

PPWR & SHIPPING
A little word on PPWR
Chances are, you’ve already heard of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, aka PPWR.
As the name suggests, the whole idea is to reduce packaging waste and make us all a little more conscious about our environmental footprint. Which is, obviously, a good thing.
Pressing records, however, is already something of an ecological nightmare — and we haven’t even started talking about the bonkers ways records travel around the world.
Here at Not Sorry, we try to keep things as sensible as possible: we ship in cardboard mailers, use paper-based packing material and non-plastic tape, and usually throw in only a few flyers and stickers. Some records come wrapped in foil, some don’t. We’re pretty sure you know how to recycle these materials — but if you’re unsure, just drop us a line at weare@not-sorry.de and we’ll figure it out together.
Unfortunately, PPWR also comes with a rather massive downside for small businesses like ours: we would need to register and obtain packaging recycling certificates in every single EU country we ship to. The costs and paperwork involved are simply not manageable for us.
So, for the time being, we can only ship to Germany and all non-EU countries worldwide. Sorry about that!
If you’re inside the European Union but outside Germany and there’s a record in our shop that you absolutely need in your life, please don’t give up just yet. Drop us a line at weare@not-sorry.de and we’ll see if we can find a way to get it to you.
