Refuse Records

SAIDIWAS were an anarchist vegan straight edge band from the vibrant hardcore scene in Umea, Northern Sweden in the 90’s.
They put out two releases on Desperate Fight Records.
Some of the members were also in bands like FINAL EXIT and SEPARATION.

Their radical political message was a call for solidarity in the struggle against all kinds of oppression, inequality, gender roles and patriarchal schemes. Their sound was influenced by DC’s Revolution Summer bands. They had a strong contrast to the dominant heavy sounding HC bands of the era with the violent dancing that came along with them. Their confrontational set at Ieper Fest in 1996 was clear manifestation of their stance and sparked a lot of controversy and discussions.

The band’s debut 6-track CD ep
was released in 1996 and it’s finally now coming out on vinyl. This release has an additional bonus track previously released on the “Straight Edge As Fuck II” compilation CD (1996, Desperate Fight).

PPWR & SHIPPING

A little word on PPWR

Chances are, you’ve already heard of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, aka PPWR.

As the name suggests, the whole idea is to reduce packaging waste and make us all a little more conscious about our environmental footprint. Which is, obviously, a good thing.
Pressing records, however, is already something of an ecological nightmare — and we haven’t even started talking about the bonkers ways records travel around the world.

Here at Not Sorry, we try to keep things as sensible as possible: we ship in cardboard mailers, use paper-based packing material and non-plastic tape, and usually throw in only a few flyers and stickers. Some records come wrapped in foil, some don’t. We’re pretty sure you know how to recycle these materials — but if you’re unsure, just drop us a line at weare@not-sorry.de and we’ll figure it out together.

Unfortunately, PPWR also comes with a rather massive downside for small businesses like ours: we would need to register and obtain packaging recycling certificates in every single EU country we ship to. The costs and paperwork involved are simply not manageable for us.

So, for the time being, we can only ship to Germany and all non-EU countries worldwide. Sorry about that!

If you’re inside the European Union but outside Germany and there’s a record in our shop that you absolutely need in your life, please don’t give up just yet. Drop us a line at weare@not-sorry.de and we’ll see if we can find a way to get it to you.

Robert has been running this label since cca. 1743, putting out gems from the likes of ANTI-CORPOS, COKE BUST and my personal favourite, FORESIGHT. He also digs deep into the archives for reissues of SAIDIWAS and heaps of old Polish bands I’ve never even heard of.
